In 1965, İdris Hatipoğlu entered the glass trade by selling imported glass from the US and UK in Eskişehir. With the establishment of Şişecam in Turkey, he became a distributor and expanded with a second warehouse in Bursa. In 1985, together with his son İsmail Hatipoğlu, he founded Turkey’s second insulated glass factory. Between 1985–2000, Hatipoğlu insulated glass was widely used in prestigious projects. In 1995, responding to rising demands in construction materials, the company invested in new production, and in 1997 launched the Europen brand for doors and window profiles. Later, facilities for sheet, panel, door, and window production were established, along with refrigerator, oven, and furniture glass manufacturing. By 2020, Europen had become one of Turkey’s largest industrial enterprises with 1,550 employees and 6 production plants.
